Showcase:
teach & learn with technology =
Inspire. inquire. integrate. innovate. influence
We need to imagine the media-rich environment today’s digital generation is growing up with and prepare them intellectually and socially to not only use all the tools at their disposal, but to know how to find information and turn it into knowledge. We need to incorporate technology seamlessly into the work we do.
~ L. Lieman, 2009
Driven by that philosophy and after much work with a Strategic Educational Technology Planning Committee, I wrote the following: Teach and Learn with Technology = Inspire. Inquire. Integrate. Innovate. Influence.
It captures my goals for integrating technology in our education programs and keeps me focused and motivated. Although the words are embedded in the "Leslie" banner at the top of both my professional and school ePortfolios, they are challenging verbs to live by. Therefore, the theme of my showcase page is to highlight technology-diverse school work that represents each word.

Technology Plan Glog
At the same time I began the MAET journey with the first course in the Certification sequence (CEP 810), I was also revisiting our School's Educational Technology Strategic Plan with a faculty committee. Inspired to try a new tool, I used an online interactive poster tool (Glogster) to capture the cyclical nature of revisiting our mission and vision statements.

Poster Campaign
I took photos of our students while they were completing their video analysis of teaching during a pilot preparation project for the new State certification requirements. Then, inspired by a creative image assignment in CEP 800, I decided to tackle issues that originated in CEP 812's Wicked Problem with a Poster Campaign. I wanted to use the posters to inspire future teacher candidates to understand the value of video analysis. I've also begun to highlight candidates' exemplar work and activities throughout the hallways!

Book it!
BookIT!, is an online book-tracking website wire-frame I designed to capture readers’ interests and motivate them to be book explorers and reviewers. By innovating a personalized library system, I imagined kids finding the perfect balance between challenge, curiosity, and control of their reading choices. This project was designed in T-545 Engagement & Learning: Technologies that Invite and Immerse with Instructor: Dr. Christopher Dede at Harvard University. I was inspired by the analysis of pedagogical foundations in motivation and learning and how (or if) it could be improved by technology. I am very proud of the wire-frame, BookIT! that I created for this course. I believe that it has potential in the marketplace, but returned proudly to my work at Lehman College instead.

Dream It: Video Analysis
My goal in the Dream IT project proposal was to offer teacher candidates a self-directed series of online learning opportunities that scaffolds teaching observation and video analysis skills. Although this authentic project, has not been implemented in full, many facets of the work is being done or continues to be developed. A section of the project includes a Total PACKage: Video Analysis for Pre-Service Teachers video.
